TOUR LEADER

Our tour leader, Ms. Ji-li Jiang, has won dozen of prestigious award in USA for her book Red Scarf Girl -- a powerful memoir about her experience during the China's Cultural Revolution when she was twelve years old. This award-winning book has been translated into five foreign languages. Now, immigrated to US, Ms. Jiang's personal goal is to bridge the gap between East and West.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP

  • Revisiting some important sites of the Vietnam War, such as "Hanoi Hilton" - the old prison where American pilots were kept, and DMZ - the Demilitarized Zone, a strip of land which once separated North and South Vietnam.
  • Dialoguing with teachers and students at schools and at a teacher's home.
  • Understanding some social problems by visiting "Xa Me" group - an organization of orphans selling newspapers, and Peace Village in Thanh Xuan - a humanitarian village for disabled children who are second or third generation victims of the war.
  • Interacting with the country's rich culture and learning about its historical significance, including visiting the tombs of the Nguyen emperors, Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and his house, Cu Chi Tunnel and Cao Dai Religious Temple.

  • Round trip air fare from West Coast
  • All ground and air transportation in Vietnam
  • All accommodations are at three-star hotels (additional $400 for single occupancy)
